2025 | Get Outside with the Bugs

VWs are still everywhere, just more electric, more digital, and still ridiculously adorable. Like, if your car could wink at you, a VW would definitely be winking.

Get ready to plump up those lashes, friends; during the weekend of August 22, 23, 24, 2025 the VWs will be everywhere!

Another blast of a time is approaching when we can all experience the VWs in nearly every corner of town. The Annual Eureka Springs VW Show returns for its 33rd year with the biggest highlight happening on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 3:00pm - the Annual Parade of V-Dubs right down Prospect Ave and Spring Street.

Each VW has its own personality ... one might be rocking sunglasses, another wearing a Hawaiian shirt, and one in the back muttering, “I’m late for yoga, but I still look fabulous.”

They’re dressed up, dolled up, and accessorized like beloved pets. Lashes, pupils, mustaches, bow ties, if a VW pulled up in a tuxedo, no one here would bat an eye. The love people have for these cars is real and deep, and when you see them all together, you can’t help but grin like a kid who just spotted the ice cream truck.

The Volkswagen story itself is a journey, from its complicated beginnings in Germany in the 1930s, to becoming a post-war symbol of peace, individuality, and a little bit of rebellion.

The Beetle? She’s the prom queen.

The Bus? The wise art teacher who drives you to Hillberry.

Over the decades, VWs have stayed ahead of the curve.

After the war, the British instructed Volkswagen to build the Volkswagen saloon at the end of 1945. With the Type 1 (Käfer) model, and the Type 2 (Transporter) model added in 1950, Volkswagen became a symbol of Germany’s economic miracle, above all as a result of the strong export orientation on the part of the company converted into a joint stock corporation in 1960. Innovative and flexible manufacturing systems made an appearance in the 1970s and led to the birth of a new generation of Volkswagens with the Passat, Scirocco, Golf and Polo models. Growth was boosted in the 1980s through advances in vehicle technology, flexible production, and forward-looking international cooperation.

And there’s no better stage for this show than Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Although now, our town is Pinterest-famous, it's was founded and named in 1879.

As many people know, although our little mountain town is known today for our incredible architecture, arts/events, history, antiques & shopping, as well as the great outdoors, but the original draw was simply - natural spring water.

As the story is often told . . . early Native American tribes believed that the cold mountain spring water that flows through these hills could cure ailments of all kinds, and for this reason all that surrounded was deemed sacred. It was not long after the discovery of the healing water when health-seekers deemed these hills to be full of miracle cures and flocked to the area by the thousands during Victorian times, thus creating this stylish mountain retreat that you may still come to experience, even today.

Our streets are designed for both leisurely strolls and joyful parades. You feel it as soon as you arrive ... "that hard-to-explain, magical tug on your soul" ... and events like VW Weekend only make that connection stronger. Watching those brightly colored Bugs and Buses roll through downtown is like getting a joy transfusion. You smile, your neighbor smiles, and yes, your dog probably smiles, too.

Annual VW Weekend plays a big part to strengthen that "tug on your soul."

Nowadays, it remains to be said that the rejuvenating spring waters that continue to flow below the downtown Historic District of Eureka Springs and the surrounding Historic Loop continue to emit these mystical, magical energies that ground you and connect you.

There's something about this place and the VWs discovered it. Joy!

VWs and Eureka Springs will forever have that common connection.
